An Adventure Tour Operator has to take care of many details regarding the comfort, safety and enjoyment of the travel experience; for this reason, our efforts are aimed at guaranteeing a high quality service, minimizing the difficulties of mountain trekking developed in totally wilderness areas.
You will travel with English speaking guides (other languages require advance notice) and professional field chefs that will serve you a rich and complete meal (special diets are no problem but do require advance notice).
In all camps we use complete and superior outdoor equipment: Coleman "extreme weather" tents igloo type (indoor area of cm.150 x 210 for one person and cm 210 x 210 for two people); zebra lined handmade cushions (cm.60 x 200 x 6) or Thermorest; "Mountain Gear" sleeping bags filled with hollow fiber (comfort temperature 0 ° / -5 ° and extreme temperature + 20 ° / -15 °), including personal linen; kitchen tent ( 2.70 x 3) and dining tent (m 3 x 6, including veranda) with lighting equipment; tables with their respective benches; gas kitchen with all implements for the kitchen and for the service; radio communications equipment camping - Lodge - guide.
During the trekking, each participant will only load useful things for the road (water, snacks, repellent, camera, etc.), delivering to our cargo service the other personal items (max 7 kg.) that can be taken at the Choquequirao camp (we will provide a duffel-bag).
It is a 4 to 5 day demanding trek, which requires good physical condition and endurance.
The trail reaches bottom and top altitudes of 4.920 and 10.170 feet, so “soroche” or altitude sickness is not an issue. The weather (check out “micro-climates) is entirely dependent on whether you’re going up or down; temperatures vary between hot days (70 – 80 ºF) and cool nights (45 – 50 ºF).
PLEASE CONSIDER BRINGING Hiking shoes, walking sticks, a small backpack, thick socks, long sleeve “dry-fit” shirts, shorts, pants, (no jeans), sun cap, warm hat, coat or jacket, insect repellent, sunscreen, personal care items, and an absolute predisposition to the new and surprising… an openness to the unseen and the unknown!
